Travel and Tourism Legislation

Passed 84th Regular Session:

  1. HB 978 Relating to the designation of the Route 66 Historic Corridor.

Synopsis: Several states that have Route 66 in their respective geographic boundaries have designated their portion of the highway as an official “state historic corridor.” No such designation currently exists for Route 66 in Texas. H.B. 978 designates the segment of the highway as the “Route 66 Historic Corridor” in order to promote tourism in Texas communities along Route 66.
