Results from a new University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll mirror the findings from a Fall 2014 survey by the Transportation Policy Research Center at the Texas Transportation Institute.
Three-fourths of the respondents to the UT/Texas Tribune Poll said traffic congestion is a serious problem, and the same percentage in TTI’s Texas Transportation Poll said they experience traffic congestion when traveling in the region where they live.
And in both polls, a majority said they believed that traffic congestion was a byproduct of the state’s growing population and expanding economy.
“It’s really significant that the UT/Texas Tribune Poll and the Texas Transportation Poll reflect findings that are so similar,” says Ginger Goodin, the Director of the Transportation Policy Research Center. “Together, the two surveys show clearly that Texans understand the urgency of our state’s transportation challenges.”
