TTI researchers Tim Lomax and David Ellis recently provided testimony to two committees of the Texas Senate, addressing transportation finance and roadway congestion issues.

The Senate Transportation Committee on June 23 heard from Lomax, who updated committee members on the work of the Mobility Investment Priorities Project, which addressed the corridors ranking highly on the Texas Department of Transportation’s “100 Most Congested Roadways” list. Ellis offered testimony related to the Committee’s interim charge on comprehensive development agreements and design/build project delivery methods, drawing  from the Transportation Policy Research Center’s recent study on public-private partnerships for roadway infrastructure.

The Senate Select Committee on Transportation Funding, Expenditures & Finance on June 24 received testimony from Ellis that addressed the Lone Star State’s toll road network and the current transportation system needs stemming from research published in 2011 by the Texas 2030 Committee — It’s About Time: Investing in Transportation to Keep Texas Economically Competitive. He also provided information on transportation funding options and the state’s toll road network.
